Knight’s Return

Through the castle gate I find
a sullen angel robed in white,
demure yet strong of spirit she,
held paused in waiting for her knight.

Worry peaks her gentle brow
beneath sweet flows of chestnut locks,
yet longing moves her spirit forth
in waves of hope that silence mocks.

She is my love, my Guinevere,
in tawny alabaster skin,
left standing at the chapel doors
declining to go in.

She looks to me from amber eyes,
a silent tear upon her cheek.
She calls my name below her breath,
afraid to hear it, afraid to speak.

Across the courtyard, faintly seen,
a glint of shield and sword,
tossed in moonlight’s dust and mist,
floating on a whispered word.

Alas, I cannot call to her,
nor move beyond my breaking heart,
yet shuddered sobs of disbelief
deny my hidden ghostly art.

She turns to me in hesitation,
with reaching hand and heaving breath,
sobs my name in quaking timbre,
beholds me here past gates of death.

In silent sweet repeating,
I beg forgiveness and her love,
vow to hold her hand in living,
vow protection from above.

In death I stand with broken heart
as to my eyes my love unfolds
in heaps of sobbing sadness,
midst “whys?” that shall remain untold.

Through mourning gates at last they come,
bringing home what flesh remains
on bloodied, battered stallions,
reduced to battle scars and stains.

She stands to face me squarely
across the courtyard’s timeless cast,
whispers clearly, “yours eternal”,
and bows to let the bearers past.

As chapel candles draw them in,
she turns to hold my ghost once more,
blows a kiss in love eternal,
then steps beyond the chapel door.

New Horizon

Tired, stretches long the hand that held the reins in pride.
Softly reaches memory that age and time deride.
Deeply sets the furrowed brow where kept, his heartaches hide.
Gently shines the eyes of love, left sparkled by the ride.

‘Twas only but a moment’s flash
that forked the road in two,
yet more than one divided thought
set free the future to the blue.

Who’s footing lacked precision?
Who cut the turn in blame?
Who’s fault by indecision
tossed it all to ground, and lame?

Still, through the clearing dust appeared
two broken smiles across the path,
denying hope to ride upon
the questions in the lath…

questions left in settled dust,
fractured shadows in the sky,
and how the fork appeared just
heartbeat counts beyond the “why”.

The hand, so tried, is steady.
The reins are known and worn.
His vision keen and ready
to dawn the new horizon born.

The Aging Park Bench

How kindly does the oak embrace
her tender features sitting still,
held by iron wrought in place
as if so formed by true love’s will.

Her oak, her iron, manifest
a perch of sweet repose.
Beneath the elm she gently rests
to welcome hearts, to welcome those
so drawn in need of peace,
so called by shaded park side walk,
so pulled to cheat a moment’s tease
or sit in quiet day and talk.

She holds her stance through season’s sway
by summer’s shade or winter’s snow,
‘neath blooming skies or storming gray,
all pleasures of this park she knows.

How honest does this gentle bench
share the hearts who quietly come
to speak of love or hold a hand,
or simply draw the world in sum.

Each day I pass her quietly,
stroke her weathered wood in care,
nod to her politely
and recall the hands I once held there,
the eyes I fell in deeply,
the cooing of the ring neck doves,
the moments spent completely
in the whispered words of love.

She smiles upon me knowing
all the memories I so dearly hold,
that I with mine in showing
give our thanks to growing old…

…together.

Deeper Still

Across deep velvet’s field of stars,
o‘er great mountains’ snow white sweep,
stretched beyond black sparkled seas
‘neath sunlight’s patient watchful keep,
‘tis yet beyond I hold you,
in truer red than current’s blood!
‘Tis deeper still beyond this,
where hearts beat strong in true love’s flood.

Capture fast this moment stilled,
this life, this time here now.
Bear witness to what love has garnered
and marvel in the “whys” and “hows”.
For to this point in space and time
we’ve stumbled, wandered, pawed,
till now in quiet resilience stand,
hand in hand in love, in awe.

Free the grasp of time
to flee across eternal calls,
witness ghosts of you and I
in love beyond the living falls.
Feel the subtle tug of thread
that binds our souls as one,
that to this point, and from here on,
love’s fabric stitched can’t be undone.

Some Other Time

“Some other time”, hung tenderly,
as evening claimed the dusky lea,
yet sweet, her gentle voice did rend
a promise, emptied to defend
a hope that years might lose the key.

Yet stolen hope drifts sparingly
to dreams where time has set her free
or grant her lonely years to tend
some other time.

She walked along the ebbing sea
whose moonlit waves, in subtle plea
softly whispered in the blend,
‘neath silent stars whose embers mend
the hearts of those who flee
some other time.

Inspired by the musical composition “Some Other Time” by Michael Hoppe / Martin Tillman

Sweet Seduction

Along the blue steel thread of rails,
peace entreats my quiet wanting
in silhouetted oak tree stands
and shadows black, night’s contrast, haunting.

Waxen moon in full delight
calms November’s rolling dells,
strokes the sultry flaxen lea
to render sweet seduction’s spell.

A feathered breeze, a trembling hush
claimed in shuddering wanton fields,
where forlorn apathetic husks
sense love’s touch and so in yield.

Sweet seduction’s mercy,
before my eyes, across this vale,
thieves my lonely heart from worry
by haunting blue reflected rails
that curve the valley floor,
surrender to the sweet wood’s blind,
to mountains rise to blush once more
and there entreat her love in kind…

Beneath the stroke of naked moon,
between November’s blankets furled,
kissed by meadow’s sweetest rills
before the granite mountains curled.

Here dream do I in longing,
atop this post in autumn’s glove,
yearn to kiss her blushing flesh
and draw her close in sacred love.

The Old Couple in the Park

With trembling hands she reaches,
she reaches just to touch his face
where trembling melts in sweet caress,
caress strokes soul in sweetest grace.

Through wrinkled eyes he looks to her,
to her, his queen, his love, his wife.
Feels her warmth in aging hands,
aging hands that share his life.

She feels the stubble cross his cheek,
his cheek that’s aged and thinly drawn.
Into his eyes she deeply falls,
deeply falls where love’s been long.

He smiles into her tender eyes,
tender eyes of angel’s love.
He softly strokes her aging hand,
her aging hand light as a dove.

She smiles, he winks,
he winks, she beams,
she beams, he shines
and into love they fall it seems.

Gently aging beauty
when held transfixed by soul,
by soul in love eternal,
in aging ne’er one grows old.

Crimson

Crimson red, my sweet love’s blush,
when to her neck my lips do rush,
set heave to heart beneath the folds
of linen pressed and garment’s hold,
yet sweet seduction mine…

Pensive space between our stare,
when locked in passion’s want and care,
pressed to hesitation’s pose,
till kiss and taste our love expose
surrender, I and thine…

Flurried hands enclasp and press,
search for freedom from this dress,
pulling tight in lip locked fury
within the flame of passion’s hurry,
yet stretch the moments long…

Till so released from garment’s bind,
fingers locked in tender lines,
flesh on flesh, clasp on clasp,
sweetness quaffed in every gasp
till knotted we, as lovers strong…

In timeless keep, suspended souls,
spirits mix in love locked rolls,
our pounding hearts deny the quiet,
while sweet seduction sings in riot
near love’s peak , in union hover…

Our bodies faint, our souls infused
as one, by passion’s love let loose,
and we in heap of flesh and bone,
collapse in kiss and sweet love’s tone,
there melt into each other…
eternal mates, eternal lovers…

Alas, I Am Told

I saw you smiling coyly there,
Lavender sprigs tossed through your hair,
Your gentle cheek a rosy blush
As from your heart a sudden rush
Pushed forth by how I caught your stare.

I prayed that you might care
To take my hand and walk a fare
Distance through sweet autumn’s crush,
Alas, I am told,

You have no love to spare,
No heart for mine you wish to share.
Left stammering, I in boyish blush
So quelled my throbbing heart in hush
Midst autumn’s leaves left standing there.
Alas, I am told.

True Love’s Nature

DSC_7803

On noble plains of grandeur swept,
knee high grasses whose waves have kept
a softened motion ‘neath mountain spires,
perched through tree line midst God’s fire,
is where this love of ours belongs…

In alpine meadow’s fragrant blush
that sets the woods and stream to hush,
where skies transform the azure, gold,
into relief’s eternal fold
of mountain ranges long –
is there where best our love makes song.

For you, my love, have granted
such pleasures sweet this heart of mine,
and in my soul have planted
truth of love and friendship, kind,
that only nature’s wild can dress
the setting honest, when by it, blessed
our lives move on, as one in bliss
of true love’s nature and true love’s kiss.
